As lawyers, contracts are our bread and butter. We use them every day to enshrine profit margins, protect rights, allocate responsibilities and set up value. However, many of the contracts we use today are no longer fit for purpose. At best, they fail to protect business against the evolving ESG risk landscape and, at worst, they act as a barrier to sustainability strategies and targets, resulting in legal and reputational risk.

I founded Puxley ESG to do one thing: activate the law for a sustainable future. The business is borne out of a critical need to offer integrated legal advisory and leadership services that enable governments, businesses and individuals to understand their externalities, so that they can thrive in the long term. As international laws, regulations and standards continue to embed environmental and social value into their frameworks, it is critical that business thinks strategically and proactively about embedding ESG into governance and strategy.
